Canon releases a new generation of high-speed wide-format printers - plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series technical document output system

On May 28, 2024, Canon released a new generation of high-speed wide-format printers plotWAVE (monochrome) and colorWAVE (color) T-series products at the 2024 German Drupa Printing Exhibition (DRUPA 2024), including: plotWAVET35/T50/T55/T75 and colorWAVE T60/T65. Canon plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series are based on industry-proven and trustworthy technologies such as crystal bead toner and thermal radiation fixing, integrating product design and controller technology innovations into efficient printing systems, which can reliably and easily output high-quality technical drawings, posters and promotional advertisements. In addition, the new T-series is also equipped with a new workflow solution PRISMA Tech suite. At the same time, the various IT security features in the printer will further enhance printing security, and its recyclable design also contributes to environmental protection.

Interested friends can see the prototypes of plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series at Canon's booth in Hall 8A of DRUPA 2024. All models of these two series will also be available in the Chinese market this year.

Canon's plotWAVE and colorWAVE series are designed for professionals in architecture, engineering, construction and manufacturing companies, as well as government agencies and commercial printing service providers who need to handle large amounts of technical documents. Based on a proven and efficient printing platform, they are equipped with enhanced features and a comprehensive suite of workflow solutions and extended services, making them an ideal choice for users to be safe, reliable and easy to use in the coming years. Since their launch, Canon's plotWAVE and colorWAVE high-speed wide-format printers have been installed by more than 62,000 users worldwide, allowing users to easily produce accurate and high-quality prints with just one click.

The new T-series continues to provide professionals with the production tools they need to meet their work

The new plotWAVE T-series includes four models: T35, T50, T55 and T75. The fastest model can print ten A1-format images per minute, and the media loading can be expanded to six rolls with a width of approximately 914 mm (36 inches) and a total length of approximately 1200 meters (3937 feet). At the same time, the new ColorWave T-series has launched two models: T60 and T65. These two devices can print up to four color A1-format images per minute. The media capacity of T60 is up to four rolls of paper; T65 provides a separate high-quality printing mode to meet the needs of users who pursue higher quality printing effects. Its media loading can be expanded to six rolls with a total length of approximately 1200 meters (3937 feet), and it can be compatible with more types of media. All new models can also be used as multi-function printers, providing solutions including scanning, stacking and folding.

The new plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-Series give professionals the productivity tools they need to get the job done, and feature the newly upgraded POWERsync+ controller. With faster speeds and more memory, the POWERsync+ controller processes print jobs at lightning speed, and runs on Microsoft Windows 10 IoT 2021 Enterprise, giving users access to new Microsoft Windows security features to keep their systems secure. In addition, users can submit print jobs to multiple devices from anywhere, and remotely wake up devices with the Remote ON feature, so that print jobs can be started immediately when users arrive at the printer. An operating indicator light can be configured on the top of the printer to display the printer's status, and a new sensor in the roll drawer can automatically estimate the remaining length on the paper roll and make recommendations, further improving productivity and ease of use.

The PRISMA Tech suite is a workflow solution for plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-Series that provides multiple guarantees for print jobs and provides users with convenient printing tools to help users easily manage print operations and increase the uptime of printing devices, thereby improving productivity.

PRISMA Tech Suite improves user productivity

PRISMAproduce Tech software allows users to easily create and manage complex document sets from a web browser and submit them to one or more printers at a time for operation. Users will benefit from more unified and standardized printing processes, more reliable print quality, easier IT maintenance and the use of dedicated printing templates;

PRISMAlytics Accounting tool is a secure cloud service tool for obtaining printer printing costs and usage data;

PRISMAlytics Dashboard tool is a secure cloud service management tool that provides comprehensive graphical overview information, allowing users to understand and significantly improve the productivity of the equipment;

PRISMAservice tool is an information aggregation platform that integrates a wider range of service information on one page, allowing Canon's service support to provide faster, more efficient and more effective user support, ensuring longer equipment operation time.

Given that security is a key concern for users, Canon has further upgraded the SMARTshield integrated print security technology in the newly released plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series, and automatically deploys Microsoft security patches, supporting PIN or password printing. System administrators can specify when security patches are deployed and can set notifications about the availability and update status of new security patches. Users can also enter a PIN or password before printing a file. When arriving at the printer, the PIN or password must be entered on the user panel integrated with ClearConnect technology to access the file for secure printing, which will prevent any unauthorized personnel from printing the file.

In order to significantly reduce the impact on the environment, the plotWAVE T-series with thermal radiation fixing technology and the colorWAVE T-series with crystal bead toner technology have both obtained Energy Star certification※4 and have energy-saving modes. Like their predecessors, many of which are still in service today, both T-Series models are designed for extended life, with approximately 85% of the materials being recyclable or reusable, enabling remanufacturing. The plotWAVE T-Series also features toner bottles made from an average of 50% recycled plastic, while the colorWAVE T-Series Crystal Pearl toner comes in a box that doubles as a maintenance box. Both T-Series models are supported by Canon’s Smart Drivers and PRISMA Tech Suite workflow solutions, enabling first-time print success without wasting prints, toner, ink or energy due to inconsistencies between what was previewed and what was printed.
